Purpose of The Role
Join BBC News' expanding digital operation in Sydney as a Senior Journalist – Growth & Social, where you'll play a key role in publishing, curating and managing our output on social media, and growing our digital audience. You'll help shape the BBC's digital coverage during key global hours and ensure our journalism reaches audiences in Asia, Oceania, and make the most of our output for audiences waking up in the UK.

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
* Social Media Publishing, Curation & Optimisation: Deliver and optimise social media output for audiences in Asia, Oceania, and those waking up in the morning in the UK. Collaborate with global teams and attend daily news meetings to advise on content performance and alignment with strategic goals.
* Innovation & Development: Monitor emerging trends, support the development and delivery of major news events and digital campaigns.
* Audience Growth & Editorial Strategy: Drive audience growth and engagement strategies across BBC News' digital and social platforms. Provide real-time, data-informed insights and translate analytics into actionable editorial strategies to support decision-making.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
* Experience in delivering and optimising news content to a wide variety of social media platforms, using industry standard tooling
* Proven track record of implementing successful audience growth strategies.
* Proficiency in analytics tools such as Piano, Chartbeat, Newswhip, Google Trends, and Semrush
* Experience in digital newsrooms and understanding of editorial workflows.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to translate data into editorial action.
* Strong editorial judgment and audience-first mindset.
