About This Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Research Project Officer to coordinate administrative processes and support the research activities of the ATLAS Indigenous Primary Care Surveillance Network (ATLAS) within the Poche Centre for Indigenous Health.
ATLAS is a national collaboration established to better explain and address disparities in sexually transmissible infections (STIs) and blood-borne viruses (BBVs) among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Developed in partnership with Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs), ATLAS currently works with more than 80 ACCHOs and Indigenous communities across Western Australia, Queensland, the Northern Territory, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia, and continues to expand.
The role works within a research team that prioritises Aboriginal ways of knowing and being, Indigenous Data Sovereignty, and strong ethical and governance practice. You will play a key role in supporting compliance with ethics and governance requirements and maintaining effective relationships with Aboriginal Medical Services, governance bodies and other stakeholders.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Coordinate core research administration processes to ensure ongoing compliance with ethics and governance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
* Maintain key calendars and tracking systems for ethics approvals, amendments, reports, grants and related milestones.
* Draft, edit and submit documentation for ethics committees, governance bodies and other research-related approvals.
* Implement, document and review procedures aligned with University policies, legislative requirements and best practice research standards.
* Support stakeholder engagement activities, including meetings, workshops and routine correspondence, acting as a key point of contact for research administration enquiries.
* Coordinate stakeholder meetings and related logistics, including agendas, papers, travel and catering.
This is a full-time fixed-term position through to February 2027 at Hew Level 6
About You
Applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged
* Completion of a relevant degree with subsequent experience in coordinating activities, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
* Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines in a complex research environment.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise documentation and liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
* High level proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
* Experience working with sensitive data or a demonstrated understanding of Indigenous Data Sovereignty.
* Experience in a public health or research environment is desirable.
* Working knowledge of University administrative systems, policies and procedures, or the ability to rapidly acquire this knowledge.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia & mandatory immunisations.
