Overview
Facilities Assistant – Are you passionate about maintaining safe, high-quality community spaces? Do you have experience in parks facilities, playground inspections, and contractor coordination? We are seeking a motivated and proactive Facilities Assistant to support the delivery of professionally presented parks through effective installation, inspection, maintenance and asset management of park facilities.
About the Role
Reporting to the Parks Supervisor Facilities, you will assist in ensuring the parks, playgrounds and public amenities are safe, compliant and well maintained for the community.
You will play a key role in
1. Parks Facilities & Maintenance
2. Inspecting playgrounds, public toilets and park facilities for safety and compliance with relevant Australian Standards
3. Wear and tear including vandalism
4. Assessing asset condition, remaining life and replacement value
5. Implementing work programs for park facilities
6. Maintaining a proactive approach to Workplace Health & Safety (WHS)
7. Stakeholder & Contractor Engagement: Engaging and coordinating contractors for repairs and installations
8. Liaising with staff and day labour teams
9. Responding to customer enquiries and complaints regarding facility maintenance
10. Supporting high levels of client and stakeholder satisfaction
Resource Allocation & Reporting
11. Assisting with forward planning, scheduling and allocation of resources
12. Obtaining quotations and supporting contract documentation preparation
13. Assessing contractor claims for payment
14. Maintaining accurate records including:
15. Budget expenditure
16. Safety inspections
17. Vandalism reports
18. Parks database updates
19. Customer service statistics
20. Capital improvements
21. Timesheets and associated records
About You
You will bring: Demonstrated experience in inspecting and maintaining parks facilities and assets; Knowledge of AS 4685.1 and AS 4685.2 standards; Playground Inspector Accreditation (AS4685 Conduct Visual Inspection) or willingness to obtain during probation; Strong communication skills with the ability to engage a broad range of stakeholders; Experience supervising contractors and/or day labour; Sound understanding of Workplace Health & Safety requirements; Good computer skills, ideally with experience in GIS and asset management systems; Ability to prepare concise reports and maintain accurate records.

22. Current C Class Driver's Licence
23. Current General Safety Induction (Construction Industry) ticket
24. Ability to work a 38 hours a week
25. Successful completion of a functional assessment
