Senior Wayfinding / Signage Designer
(Freelance)
FBI are on the hunt for available senior freelancers with strong signage and wayfinding experience for a long term freelance contract. You will be a senior conceptual signage designer and be involved in planning, strategy design, and design and implementation of all Signage and Graphic projects. Along with your strong wayfinding skills you will be involved in design of reports, infographics, presentations and in house marketing for production as well.
Requirements
* Work side-by-side with the Head of Graphics on a wide range of exciting projects
* Sit in on job briefs with senior members of the Interiors team to help shape creative direction
* Take the lead on signage projects from start to finish — from the first idea all the way to installation
* Create signage strategies, set up hierarchy systems, and develop templates for repeatable, scalable signage systems
* Guide and support junior designers as a mentor and project lead
* Communicate directly with clients, consultants, and suppliers — in meetings, over the phone, and via email
* Write clear and detailed signage specs, and use tools like SignAgent for location planning
* Stay on top of your project workload, and flag any changes in scope or deadlines to the Head of Graphics or Project Lead
* Spot design or user experience issues early and suggest smart, effective solutions
* Handle all things layout when it comes to signage and graphics
* Take charge of tender and construction documentation phases for signage projects
Skills
* 5+ years of experience in a senior design role
* Hands-on experience working on large-scale signage systems - wayfinding, identification, operational and statutory signage
* Bonus if you've got architectural experience or sensibility
* You're proud of the quality of your work and keep it consistent across every deadline
* You know your way around print production, typography, shop drawings, and proofreading
* Solid knowledge of how to turn great design concepts into production-ready artwork
* You take briefs well and ask the right questions
* Great communicator - clear, friendly, and easy to work with
* Strong problem - solving skills, and you always keep the bigger project picture in mind
* You're great at juggling multiple jobs and can estimate time and priorities like a pro
* Stay cool under pressure and handle last-minute changes like a champ
* Confident in Adobe Creative Suite and familiar with SignAgent
* Comfortable with Microsoft Word and Excel
