Cleared are partnering with a leading professional services and technology organisation to recruit a
Business Analyst
to join their Security Transformation team. This is a full-time role for candidates with security clearance and an interest in Defence and secure information systems.
About the Role
As a Business Analyst, you will work on designing and integrating next-generation firewall, guard, and cross-domain solutions. You will contribute to enabling federated mission networking (FMN) in multi-domain environments, ensuring compliance with NATO standards and Australian Government security controls.
You will work closely with Solution Architects, project stakeholders, and technical teams to translate operational requirements into clear user stories and specifications for secure data exchange solutions.
This role is vital for ensuring operational solutions meet both functional and non-functional requirements, with a strong focus on data-centric security and interoperability.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with stakeholders and operational users to analyse and validate requirements for Guard and Gateway solutions.
Create and manage the product backlog and user stories in an agile delivery environment.
Facilitate agile ceremonies, including story mapping, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
Ensure requirements align with architectural vision, technical constraints, and designated security technologies such as Palo Alto Networks firewalls and Isode m-Guard cross-domain solutions.
Conduct gap analyses to identify changes required for FMN interoperability and compliance with NATO STANAGs.
Develop detailed documentation including requirement specifications, process flows, and technical specifications.
Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and ensure solutions meet defined requirements.
Act as the liaison between product owners and technical teams to ensure shared understanding of scope and deliverables.
Assist in managing project scope, risks, issues, and changes.
Qualifications & Skills
Education
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
Experience
7+ years as a Business Analyst in complex IT environments, ideally Defence, Government, or regulated sectors.
Proven experience in Agile delivery frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
Experience with secure information systems, networking, or infrastructure projects.
Technical Expertise
Strong skills in requirements elicitation, documentation, and business analysis tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Visio, DOORS).
Familiarity with security concepts, access control, and basic networking.
Ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory or compliance standards, including NATO STANAGs.
Soft Skills
Excellent communication bridging technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
Collaborative team player with self-motivation and attention to detail.
Desirable Qualifications
Industry certifications such as CBAP, CSPO, PMI-PBA, or relevant security certifications.
Prior Defence, National Security, or NATO experience.
Knowledge of Isode M-Guard, Palo Alto Networks platforms, ArchTiS, and cross-domain interoperability concepts.
Security Clearance
Current NV1 Security Clearance.
Must be willing to work onsite 5 days a week.
