Do you love coffee and a work day that is never the same as the one before? ABC News Breakfast is looking for a producer to write, edit and prepare content for the program and its digital platforms. This is a position that would suit someone who already has some limited experience in a broadcast news environment.
The role will involve:
1. Undertaking a range of production tasks under direction from the Executive Producer and Supervising Producers across a 24 hour/seven day roster.
2. Writing and producing program elements including overlay, RVOs, teases, openers, grabs and packages.
3. Producing concise, accurate and engaging copy/edits that have been tailored for a breakfast television audience.
4. Working with a team on the production desk.
5. Chasing guest bookings.
6. Suggest story segment and interview ideas, and identify fresh angles in ongoing and developing stories.
7. Working alongside and supporting the News Breakfast’s digital team to increase the shelf-life for linear TV content.
About You
You have some experience working as a broadcast producer or news reporter. You will have an understanding of the tone of breakfast television and a wide knowledge base that covers international and national news, as well as sport, finance and popular culture. You will also have:
8. The ability to write and produce clean, accurate news content as well as banners, teases and other program elements.
9. A basic understanding of the technical and logistics challenges of television news production.
10. The ability to produce editorial content which will comply with Editorial Policies and Style Guides.
11. Desk Top Editing skills.
12. Communication skills and a commitment to working in a multi-skilled, team environment.
13. Strong time management skills and the experience of working to tight deadlines.
14. A demonstrated and ongoing interest and passion in finding and telling stories that reflect modern Australia.
