The Role
This role is approximately 7 hours per week from February to August. We are seeking Specialist Talls Coaches to join our Junior Academy Program. As a recognised expert in the development of tall players (rucks, key forwards, key defenders), you will work with junior pathway athletes (ages 12-15), designing and delivering targeted skills development sessions, including marking, bodywork, mobility and positional craft. You will share insights from your elite playing and coaching experience and help players understand the talent pathway, benchmarks and progression.
These roles contribute to the Tasmania Talent Pathway Programs, supporting the Regional Academy Talent Leads (Boys & Girls) and the Talent Pathways Skills Acquisition Coach in developing key position Junior Academy players within the Tasmania program. The role is across three regions (North, North-West and South) and involves coaching boys and girls aged 12-15.
Responsibilities
* Provide support to the relevant coach in planning training and match days.
* Drive a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment and a respectful team culture within the region.
* Work with individual players to improve fundamental skills and provide guidance and confidence in their football careers.
* Provide specialist coaching to key position players and educate players under your charge.
Ideal Candidate
* Passionate about the individual development of talented players and coaching development.
* Well developed IT skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
* Strong coaching principles and a proactive, self-motivated approach.
* Ability to commit to working nights and some weekends.
* Valid Working With Vulnerable People card is required.
Desirable
* AFL Silver Coaching Accreditation (or working towards AFL Coaching accreditation).
