We’re looking for a Cloud Systems Engineer to play a key role in designing, implementing, and managing a modern cloud and hybrid infrastructure environment. This role sits within a supportive IT Infrastructure team and is ideal for someone who enjoys technical ownership, improving systems, and ensuring secure, reliable services across a national organisation.

What you’ll be doing Cloud & On-Prem Platform Management
Design, implement and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure with a focus on security, reliability, and performance.
Optimise cloud consumption and provide ongoing cost reporting.
Install, configure and maintain Windows OS across Azure and on-prem VMware environments.
Manage secure external API configurations across cloud and on-prem systems.
Configure and maintain Azure networking components and firewalls.
Security & Compliance
Implement and maintain security controls including patching, system hardening, and vulnerability management.
Ensure compliance with relevant frameworks such as NIST and Essential Eight.
Support incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
Collaboration & Technical Support
Work closely with DevOps, Data and Integration teams to deliver integrated technology solutions.
Provide technical guidance and support to internal stakeholders.
Troubleshoot incidents, outages, and provide clear communication to impacted teams.
Act as backup to the Systems Engineer and support broader infrastructure needs as required.
Create and maintain clear technical documentation, diagrams and runbooks.
Assess new technologies and contribute ideas to enhance service delivery.
Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning and improvement.
What you’ll bring
Extensive experience managing Azure cloud environments, including cost optimisation and governance.
Strong background in cloud networking, hybrid infrastructure and security best practices.
Experience supporting cloud integration developers, including design and architectural input.
Strong knowledge of:
Active Directory & Okta
Office 365
SQL databases
Patch management
VMware & vSphere
Experience with Azure Landing Zone technologies.
Excellent communication skills and strong stakeholder engagement capability.
Relevant Azure certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, Security Engineer).
Exposure to AWS or GCP environments.
Familiarity with ISO 27001, Essential Eight or other security frameworks.
Experience working within a large, multi-site national organisation.
