Strategic Engagement and Communications Specialist

The Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Board (the Board) is a statutory body which advises the Tasmanian Government on the direction for waste management, resource recovery and the circular economy and oversees programs and investments that translate strategy into action.
The Board's work is guided by the Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy 2023–2026, the State's first legislated waste strategy, which sets a clear vision for Tasmania to waste less, recover more, and grow local circular industries.
An exciting opportunity exists for a Strategic Engagement and Communications Specialist to lead the design and delivery of a coordinated engagement and communications program to support the Board to achieve the objectives of the Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy.
In this role you will
* Enhance the Board's brand and visibility through consistent messaging and high‑quality communication outputs.
* Coordinate high‑profile media events and stakeholder engagements, including Ministerial announcements.
* Manage digital platforms and social media presence, including content creation and performance analytics.
This position can be located in Hobart, Launceston or Devonport.
Our ideal candidate has
* Sector Knowledge: Understanding of, or ability to quickly learn, Tasmania's waste and resource recovery priorities.
* Strategic Expertise: Proven experience in developing and delivering communications and engagement plans, including media coordination and digital content creation.
* Leadership Skills: Ability to manage programs, mentor team members and model best practice in a dynamic environment.
* Exceptional Communication: Strong written and verbal skills, with experience producing high‑quality materials for diverse audiences and advising on complex issues.
* Analytical Thinking: Highly developed research, problem‑solving, and innovative thinking skills to deliver effective solutions.
