Role Overview:
This leadership position involves overseeing aquatic animal health and welfare policy at both state and national levels.
The key advisor to senior officials will be responsible for providing scientific and strategic guidance on biosecurity and animal welfare matters, managing resources and staff performance within the section, conducting epidemiological analysis, offering expert advice on disease management, collaborating with industry stakeholders, veterinarians, government branches, and community groups, mentoring junior staff members, and contributing to strategic planning and program delivery.
* Lead the development and implementation of aquatic animal health and welfare policies.
* Oversee the management of resources and staff performance within the section.
* Conduct in-depth analyses of disease outbreaks and provide expert advice on disease management strategies.
* Maintain collaborative relationships with industry partners, veterinarians, government agencies, and community organizations.
* Mentor and develop junior staff members to enhance their skills and abilities.

Work Hours: 73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation).
Appointment Period: 12 months.
