Job Description

At Goldman Sachs, our Engineers don't just make things – we make things possible. Change the world by connecting people and capital with ideas. Solve the most challenging and pressing engineering problems for our clients. Join our engineering teams that build massively scalable software and systems, architect low‐latency infrastructure solutions, proactively guard against cyber threats, and leverage machine learning alongside financial engineering to continuously turn data into action.

Business Area Description: The Synthetic Product Group (SPG) offers institutional clients and hedge funds products optimal for tax, balance sheet, and funding. Revenues come from commissions, financing, and dividends through the trading of CFD and Equity Swap OTC instruments, futures, ETFs, and structured products. Engineers are embedded with the revenue‐generating part of the business, partnering closely across the SPG organization to deliver the firm more effectively and efficiently to our clients.

Your Impact: The SPG engineering team is a dynamic front‐office group that partners directly with trading, sales, quants, operations, prime services, and other engineering teams worldwide. We focus on building and enhancing the applications and workflows that support the SPG business and our clients.

As a key full‐stack developer, you will be at the forefront of revenue‐driven technology builds and work in a fast‐paced changing environment. You may lead a new business initiative to design the trade flow for the firm's synthetic product offerings, or build a cutting‐edge stack that parallelizes contract lifecycle events and visualizes system performance. This role provides exposure to the SPG business model and enables you to apply technical expertise to deliver leading‐industry products.

You will liaise with experts in business, engineering, and operations across the globe in an environment that encourages open discussion and focuses on robust, reliable software. You will participate in the full product lifecycle from requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, support, and monitoring of system performance, and you will have access to the latest AI models to drive efficiency and innovation.

Open to candidates seeking new challenges and opportunities.

Responsibilities:

* Design, build and maintain high‐performance, high‐availability, high‐capacity, yet nimble and adaptive platforms for risk hedging, trade execution, trade booking, workflow management, and post‐trade processing.
* Design and build solutions to enhance and scale infrastructure to support business growth and new products in a holistic front‐to‐back approach.
* Find opportunities to apply AI as a force multiplier to both technical and business deliverables; contribute to the SPG AI toolkit and evangelize AI within the organization.
* Collect data and metrics from existing systems to guide decision making and business intelligence, developing or enhancing tools as necessary.
* Communicate with traders, sales, strategists, operations, and compliance officers to gather new requirements, design workflows, deliver features, and provide user support.

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Quantitative Research or equivalent experience.
* 3+ years of professional experience in full‐stack software development.
* Hands‐on experience with Java.
* Hands‐on experience with agentic AI, skills development, prompt optimization.
* Solid understanding of object‐oriented programming concepts.
* Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and systems design.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team as well as independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Working experience in the financial industry and front‐office facing environment.
* Financial knowledge of equities, synthetic, or derivative products.
* Experience applying AI or automation to real‐world engineering workflows, including familiarity with LLM‐based and AI‐assisted development tools in an enterprise environment.
* Experience with dependency injection frameworks such as Spring/Guice.
* Experience in web or UI development such as Angular/React.
* Experience with Linux shell scripting and systems programming.
* Experience building real‐time low‐latency systems (e.g., order management, complex event processing, or transaction sequencing architectures).
* Knowledge of JVM internals, tuning for low‐latency, GC‐free operation.
* Experience with event‐driven systems and event‐sourcing based architecture.
