Senior Cultural Programs Officer
This role facilitates the delivery of culturally appropriate services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander offenders in correctional facilities or on community-based supervision.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement sexual offending rehabilitation programs tailored for First Nations men convicted of sexual offences.
* Develop strategies for enhancing cultural capability, safety, and supervision among staff delivering program services.
* Pursue comprehensive training in content, delivery methods, tools, and supervision techniques relevant to specific programs.
* Assist in delivering and supervising general and sexual offending programs aimed at raising awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
* Establish priorities and develop work practices that cater to diverse cultural environments.
* Initiate partnerships with community groups to strengthen family support structures for released offenders.
* Monitor and evaluate offender program practices to ensure quality and effectiveness.
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and agency procedures by staff.
* Identify and respond to potential risks associated with effective program delivery.
* Maintain expertise in legislation, policies, and procedures related to offender management.
* Develop collaborative relationships with service providers and stakeholders to design innovative offender programs.
* Provide guidance on the suitability of First Nations Australian prisoner/offender programs.
* Consult with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Reference Group on matters of concern.
