Mid Lachlan Aboriginal Housing Management Cooperative Ltd (MLAHMC) is the largest Aboriginal housing management organisation in NSW. Established in 2004, MLAHMC manages between 600 and 800 properties across communities from Lithgow in the east to Wilcannia in the west, Wagga Wagga/Dareton in the south, and Goodooga/Enngonia in the north.

About the Role
MLAHMC is seeking 3x Tenancy and Community Engagement Officers to provide high-quality tenancy and property management services to clients. In this role, you will support tenants and communities while ensuring compliance with organisational policies, relevant legislation, and cultural considerations.
You will also provide administrative support to the Tenancy Team, maintaining accurate records, managing tenancy documentation, and ensuring tenancy services are delivered efficiently and respectfully.
Key Responsibilities
Field Duties
- Build and maintain respectful relationships with tenants and the wider community.
- Manage tenancy processes including sign-ups, documentation, rent management strategies, arrears follow-up, and collection of rental payments in the field.
- Conduct property inspections, condition reports, end-of-lease checks, and oversee repairs and maintenance, ensuring work is completed in line with policies, legislation, and budgets.
- Support tenants with applications such as Commonwealth Rent Assistance and escalate concerns to the General Manager as required.
- Undertake welfare checks, make referrals to support services, and participate in community and promotional activities.
Administration Duties
- Process tenant arrivals and departures, including coordinating appointments and handovers
- Prepare and distribute tenancy documentation, rent statements, and water accounts
- Maintain tenant files, including NCAT proceedings
- Receive, respond to, and action tenancy-related phone calls and enquiries
- Maintain accurate records in line with organisational policies and procedures
- Provide general administrative support to the Tenancy Team
Selection Criteria
- Aboriginality and understanding of Aboriginal culture, values, and housing challenges
- Certificate IV in Social Housing (or willingness to obtain)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Current driver’s licence and ability to travel as required
- Proven administrative experience with robust IT skills, including Microsoft Office with a high attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Working with Children Check and National Criminal Record Check
- Experience in housing, tenancy, or community services administration is highly desirable, along with knowledge of tenancy processes and relevant housing legislation
