The Role
We're looking for a proactive Senior Data Engineer who's excited to tackle a range of projects
that will supply mission-critical data and insights for EatClub and our customers. You'll have real influence, and room to grow in a fun and rewarding environment.
Key responsibilities
* Design, build and own robust ELT/ETL pipelines that bring together data from a wide
* range of sources, turning messy, real-world data into clean, trusted datasets.
* Build and operate our data warehouse and analytics platform, ensuring it scales with the
* business and supports everything from self-serve reporting to advanced dashboards,
* analytics and ML use cases.
* Work closely with the Product, Sales, Account Management and Senior Leadership,
* teams translating business needs into clear, reliable metrics, reports and insights that
* directly inform decision-making.
* Provide quick ad-hoc, executive-ready reporting, transforming complex data into timely,
* easy-to-understand insights that enable senior leaders to make confident, well-informed
* decisions.
* Enable Machine Learning and AI initiatives, building high-quality feature pipelines and
* datasets that power forecasting, personalisation and automation across the platform.
* Champion data quality, reliability and observability, proactively identifying and resolving
* data acquisition, integration and performance issues before they impact the business.
* Build and optimise data models that balance performance, usability and cost, supporting
* both ad-hoc analysis and critical recurring reporting.
* Continuously improve our data stack, evaluating new tools, patterns and approaches to
* keep us modern, efficient and scalable.
What You'll Bring
* A proactive, hands-on mindset, with the ability to roll up your sleeves and get things
* done.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine willingness to collaborate and support teams
* across the business.
* A solid grounding in data engineering fundamentals, including data modelling, pipeline
* design and reliability.
* Excellent problem-solving skills, paired with strong attention to detail and data quality.
* Proven experience designing, building and operating ETL/ELT pipelines in production
* environments.
* Strong proficiency with relational databases, such as MySQL and PostgreSQL.
* A strong understanding of query optimisation and performance tuning across pipelines
* and analytical workloads.
* Experience working with modern data warehousing platforms, such as Amazon Redshift
* or Snowflake.
* Experience integrating with REST and GraphQL APIs to ingest and synchronise data
* from external systems.
* Strong programming experience in Python, JavaScript and/or Java (or similar modern
* languages).
* A working knowledge of data integrity, security and privacy requirements, including
* regulations such as GDPR.
Bonus Points If You...
* Have experience with machine learning (ML) pipelines
* Have experience with other data warehousing technologies such as Databricks, Google
* BigQuery, Azure Synapse
* Have experience in building automated CI/CD pipelines
* Love food, restaurants, and dining out
Qualifications
* Degree in Data Science or a related discipline
* A minimum of 5-8 years of post-degree commercial experience as Data Engineer
* Full working rights in Australia
