Become a part of an exciting opportunity as Court Liaison Officer – Clinical Nurse Consultant or Psychologist or Social Worker, or Occupational Therapist with Mental Health Forensics Cairns. You will deliver specialist consultation-liaison mental health services to the court and broader mental health sector, supporting individuals with mental health needs who are engaged with the criminal justice system.
About us:
Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service covers an area of 142,900 square kilometres. We go as far as Tully in the south, Cow Bay in the north and Croydon in the west.
The Queensland Forensic Mental Health Service (QFMHS) is managed across the State from major groupings based in Brisbane (Metro North and West Moreton) and smaller hubs along the Queensland coast. The integrated services consist of Secure Inpatient Services, Prison Mental Health Services (PMHS), Court Liaison Services (CLS), Community Forensic Outreach Services (CFOS), and the Police Communications Mental Health Liaison Service. The state-wide component of the service is led by the Director and Operations Manager, QFMHS (based in the Metro North HHS) with the support of the Service Managers, Clinical Directors, and six state-wide positions coordinating CLS, PMHS, Forensic Liaison Officer Network, Indigenous FMH, Classified Patients and Community Risk Management programs.
About your opportunity:
In this position you will…..
* Undertake complex mental health assessments in police watch houses and court settings using a high degree of independent judgement and problem-solving skill, in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
* Apply comprehensive knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2016 to the management of consumers involved in the Criminal Justice System.
* Provide support and assistance to consumers, carers, as well as criminal justice colleagues and other relevant agencies.
