Position Purpose
The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, operational performance, and financial success of the venue. This role ensures sustained growth, consistent service excellence, strong financial returns, and the long‐term stability of the business.
The General Manager leads from the front - actively present within the venue - while maintaining oversight of strategy, people development, financial management, marketing, risk, and stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Business Growth
* Develop and implement the strategic direction of the venue to ensure sustained growth and profitability.
* Identify new revenue opportunities and growth initiatives.
* Maintain consistency of service standards aligned with brand positioning.
* Identify, assess, and manage operational and financial risks to the business.
* Ensure long‐term viability through sound planning and decision‐making.
2. Operational Leadership
* Actively oversee daily operations of both restaurant and bar.
* Regularly work within the venue to maintain visibility, culture, and service standards.
* Ensure exceptional guest experiences through consistent execution.
* Monitor operational efficiencies and implement continuous improvements.
* Oversee venue maintenance and presentation to ensure high standards are upheld.
* Attract, recruit, and retain a high‐performing management team.
* Lead, mentor, and develop department managers and supervisors.
* Foster a strong customer service culture throughout the organisation.
* Drive accountability and performance standards across all departments.
* Conduct performance reviews, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives.
* Develop and manage annual budgets in line with ownership objectives.
* Monitor revenue trends, cost controls, and profit margins.
* Analyse financial performance and provide strategic insights.
* Ensure consistent financial return and sustainable profitability.
* Oversee stock control, wage management, and cost‐of‐goods management.
5. Marketing & Brand Leadership
* Lead the marketing function to drive revenue and maintain brand integrity.
* Oversee website management and digital presence.
* Direct social media strategy and content positioning.
* Manage print, promotional campaigns, and external marketing channels.
* Ensure consistent messaging aligned with brand values and target audience.
6. Relationship Management
* Customers and key clientele
* Suppliers and service providers
* Industry partners
* Community stakeholders
* Negotiate supplier agreements and maintain strong commercial partnerships.
* Represent the venue professionally within the industry and local community.
7. Project & Asset Management
* Oversee venue improvement initiatives and capital projects.
* Manage refurbishments, upgrades, and operational improvements.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory, licensing, and health & safety requirements.
* Maintain the physical asset to a high standard.
Proven senior leadership experience in hospitality.
