Role Overview
The HR Generalist provides comprehensive, dual‐jurisdiction operational and administrative support across the VESTA and OASIS programs. This role acts as a critical link between program management and corporate HR, balancing daily administrative execution with the resolution of complex employee relations, compliance, and policy challenges.
Work Schedule
Day shift – 5 days per week, 8 hours per day.
Essential Responsibilities
* Maintain accurate, timely data entry within Australian and US HRIS and payroll systems (Data Integrity).
* Process contracts, variations, onboarding workflows, and terminations within HRIS and customer systems (Personnel Actions).
* Coordinate end‐to‐end enrollment and queries for Australian superannuation and US benefits plans (Benefits & Superannuation).
* Manage confidential records, employee files, scheduling, and site access coordination (General Administration).
* Serve as the primary point of contact for managers and employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits (Frontline Advisory).
* Investigate and resolve complex, localized employee relations issues, escalating to senior HR leadership when necessary (Problem Solving).
* Partner closely with VESTA and OASIS program leads to gather feedback and continuously improve HR service delivery (Stakeholder Engagement).
* Monitor and ensure company compliance with AU Fair Work Ombudsman regulations and US state/federal labor laws (Cross‐Border Compliance).
* Assist in drafting, updating, and implementing local HR policies and procedures (Policy Development).
* Maintain audit‐ready records management systems in alignment with defense contracting compliance (Audit Readiness).
* Promote and maintain workplace health and safety practices at the site level (WHS/OSHA Compliance).
* Perform other reasonable tasks to support the broader HR team and program objectives (Ad‐Hoc Duties).
Safety and Quality
* Contribute to a safety culture by completing all training requirements, participating in emergency response tasks, and serving on safety committees and teams.
* Adhere to the Amentum Quality Policy and carry out job activities in compliance with applicable quality system documents and customer contracts.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands
Desk‐based, sedentary role requiring prolonged use of computers. Occasional lifting of office materials up to 5kg. High cognitive demand requiring rapid context‐switching between operational compliance tasks and strategic problem‐solving.
Communication Requirements
Excellent oral and written communication skills with operating knowledge of SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite, and integrated software applications.
Security Clearance Required
Minimum Active U.S. Secret or Australian Negative Vetting (NV1) equivalent Department of Defense Security Clearance and ability to maintain that clearance. Depending on ongoing mission needs and access the role may require obtaining a higher U.S. Top Secret or Australian Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) clearance.
Minimum Education and Experience
* CertificateIV in Human Resources, or a Bachelor's Degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
* 2+ years of experience in an HR administrative or coordinator role.
* Proven experience utilizing Workday or equivalent enterprise‐tier HRIS platforms.
* Experience supporting defense industry programs or working within a dual AU/US corporate matrix (Highly Desirable).
* Basic foundational knowledge of the Australian Fair Work Act and USA Federal Labor Standards Act (Highly Desirable).
Qualifications
Current open Driver's Licence. This position is designated as a safety‐sensitive position. Amentum is a drug‐free workplace; all personnel must comply with company drug and alcohol policies as a condition of employment.
