This is a Planning Manager role with McConnell Dowell based in Sydney, NSW, AU McConnell Dowell Role Seniority - mid level More about the Planning Manager role at McConnell Dowell About The Role As a Planning Manager you will play a key role in the successful delivery of major infrastructure and construction projects. This position is suited to a driven professional with a strong background in planning and controls, capable of managing complex programmes on large-scale, high-value projects. Key Responsibilities Develop, manage, and maintain integrated project schedules for major projects. Lead planning activities across the full project lifecycle, from tender through to delivery. Provide programme analysis, critical path assessments, and recovery strategies. Interface with project managers, construction teams, commercial teams, and clients. Manage schedule risks, constraints, and change impacts. Produce regular programme updates, reports, and dashboards for senior stakeholders. Support claims, extensions of time (EOTs), and forensic planning where required. Ensure compliance with contractual, governance, and reporting requirements. About You Minimum 5 years’ experience in a planning role on major projects (infrastructure, construction, utilities, or similar). Proven experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary programmes. Strong proficiency in planning software (e.g. Primavera P6, MS Project). Solid understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and project controls. Experience working with Tier 1 contractors and/or large project environments. Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills. Ability to work autonomously and lead planning teams where required. Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
