About the role
Are you a payroll professional ready to take the lead, drive innovation, and make a meaningful impact? We're looking for a proactive and passionate Payroll Team Lead to oversee our end‑to‑end payroll operations and guide our team.
In this pivotal role, you'll manage the full payroll function for up to 500 employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a smooth experience for our people. You'll also lead a committed payroll team, champion process improvements, and help shape the systems and practices that support our growing business.
Responsibilities
* Lead, mentor and support the payroll team to deliver timely, high‑quality outcomes
* Oversee the full end‑to‑end payroll cycle with precision and efficiency
* Coordinate and balance workload across the team in a collaborative environment
* Stay across legislative and ATO updates to ensure full system compliance
* Manage payroll audits, tax returns, superannuation, and FBT processes
* Accurately process payroll transactions and prepare essential reports
* Identify and document processes, workflows, and improvement opportunities
* Interpret and apply modern awards, ensuring changes are well understood
To be successful in this role you will need
* Prior experience as Payroll Team Lead within a medium to large organisation.
* Experience using payroll systems (Micro Pay and Human Force)
* Expert knowledge of applicable legislation
* Experience with award interpretation within Agricultural and food processing industries
* High attention to detail and an urgency to meet deadlines
* A proactive attitude and an ability to pick up processes quickly.
* Experience processing full function payroll including: superannuation, payroll tax etc.
* Ability to coordinate workflows and meet deadlines
* Effective communication skills

What You Should Know About Our Operations
Our business is widespread, growing walnuts, almonds and bees in the Riverina Region in New South Wales, pecans in Moree and macadamias, avocados and mangoes in Bundaberg, Queensland.
Off the paddock, we operate nut processing and packing facilities in Leeton, Toowoomba and Bundaberg as well as fruit packing and processing in Bundaberg. In addition, our shared services teams (Finance, Sales, ESG, Safety and People & Culture) are located across all of our sites as well as the Brisbane, Melbourne and Griffith offices.
