Job Overview

The Kinship Care First Supports Program is designed to provide early intervention and support to children in statutory kinship care placements where Child Protection are involved. The program aims to strengthen family reunification, promote placement stability, and prevent unnecessary residential care.

As a Case Manager, you will undertake comprehensive assessments and provide recommendations to Child Protection about the suitability of kinship care placements. You will support children to settle within the placement and empower kinship carers to build their capacity to respond to the child's needs.

This role requires strong risk assessment skills, excellent communication skills, and an understanding of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 and Best Interests Framework.

You will also have experience working with children, young people, and families with complex needs, as well as an understanding of the out-of-home care and child protection systems and knowledge of resources available in the region.


About the Role

* Main Responsibilities:
* Undertake comprehensive assessments and provide recommendations to Child Protection about the suitability of kinship care placements.
* Support children to settle within the placement and empower kinship carers to build their capacity to respond to the child's safety, stability, and developmental needs.
* Use strong risk assessment skills to identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
* Communicate effectively with children, young people, and families, as well as internal and external stakeholders.
