The Opportunity
The Faculty of Engineering is seeking a Project Officer – People and Systems to support the delivery of key initiatives aligned with the Faculty's People and Systems strategy. In this role, you will design, implement and coordinate people-centred initiatives that advance equity, diversity and inclusion, delivering tailored solutions for staff cohorts and fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusion, safety and belonging. Working closely with stakeholders across the Faculty, you will provide project management, communications, reporting and analytical support, while maintaining key systems and data to ensure initiatives are delivered in a coordinated, effective and sustainable way, aligned with Faculty priorities.
We're looking for a candidate with experience in project coordination, strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities. A collaborative, detail-oriented approach and proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant systems are essential, with experience in digital communications or design tools highly regarded. This role reports to the Executive Officer and has no direct report.
Responsibilities / What You'll Do
* Support delivery of People and Systems initiatives in alignment with Faculty priorities
* Provide project management, communications, reporting and analytical support
* Maintain key systems and data to ensure coordinated, effective, and sustainable delivery
* Collaborate with stakeholders across the Faculty to design staff-centred solutions
Qualifications and Skills
* Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through education, training and experience
* Substantial project and event management experience including ability to plan, implement and coordinate complex projects and report on outcomes
* Demonstrated ability to develop and implement marketing/communications materials and activities and to contribute to marketing/communications strategies
* Strong presentation skills including the ability to engage with staff, alumni and training partners
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deliver a highly customer focused service with a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail to deliver high-impact messaging via platforms such as Viva Engage
* Advanced computer literacy with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications and project management tools
* Experience maintaining systems, platforms and databases such as HR systems, training & mentoring platforms, with experience in survey applications (e.g., Microsoft Forms or Qualtrics) highly desired
* Excellent time management, ability to manage changing priorities and meet deadlines
* Knowledge of electronic publishing technology with desktop publishing skills (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) highly desired
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team and also independently while managing competing demands
* Understanding of UNSW's aims, objectives and values and related policies and guidelines
* Knowledge of health & safety responsibilities and commitment to training
