He kupu mō mātou | About us
Established in 1982, Stirling site is Fonterra's only manufacturing site in the Otago region. Specialising in Cheese, the site has picked up awards from both in New Zealand and internationally for their Cheddar and Colby. Stirling produces around 10,500 20kgs blocks of cheese everyday.
Mō tēnei tūranga | About the Opportunity
As one of two Supervising Operators, your role will be primarily responsible for the operation of our Sustainability Hub including the Biological Wastewater Plant, Biomass Boiler, and Wetlands alongside a highly engaged site team.
Reporting to the Environmental Manager, day to day you will be operating and monitoring our Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant ensuring a high level of Environmental compliance. This includes a range of hands-on tasks, sample preparation, result interpretation, data entry, and basic reporting.
With the addition of the new Biomass Boiler, you will be responsible for operating and monitoring the plant to deliver steam to the site. This will also include a wide range of skills and the ability to learn and adapt quickly .
Alongside this, you will assist in maintaining the site's appearance including grounds and facilities, working alongside our site contractors.

This is a rostered days (4 days on/4 days off) position.
Mōu | About You
You'll thrive in this fast-paced, complex environment, and be passionate about performance improvement and compliance. With a strong mechanical aptitude and a natural ability to operate and consistently follow standard work, you will ensure full compliance across the entire workstream.
The role is very diverse and an almost ever-changing environment so you will need to be flexible, self-motivated, willing to learn and create the environment within your team to remain calm and work together.
You will need to demonstrate intermediate computer skills, alongside previous experience in an Environmental or Sustainability role; and Wastewater and boiler experience is preferred but not essential.
