Salary: $65,000 - $80,000 Barista Responsible for preparing high-quality espresso beverages and delivering friendly, efficient customer service.
Key Duties: prepares espresso and other specialty coffee beverages using locally sourced beans and cafe-approved brewing standards maintains and cleans the coffee workstation and equipment, ensuring sustainability practices such as minimising waste and recycling coffee grounds prepares light snacks and drinks according to the cafe's menu and presentation expectations engages with customers in a warm, welcoming manner, explains menu items and cafe sustainability initiatives handles cash and POS transactions accurately and assists with stock rotation for coffee, milk, and cafe-made products supports daily cafe operations by coordinating with front-of-house and kitchen staff during busy service periods Requirements: Ability to extract espresso consistently, texture milk correctly and adjust grinder settings based on bean profile Strong customer communication skills and ability to work efficiently during peak service periods Experience using POS systems and handling cash accurately Ability to maintain a clean and safe workstation in line with food safety standards A relevant qualification equivalent to an AQF Certificate II and one year of relevant experience; OR A qualification equivalent to an AQF Certificate III with at least one year of post-qualification relevant experience; OR At least one year of relevant barista experience in place of formal qualifications Chef Responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, designing menus and ensuring all dishes meet the cafe's standards for quality and presentation.
Key Duties: plans and develops menus featuring fresh, locally sourced and sustainable ingredients consistent with the cafe's food philosophy prepares, cooks and presents dishes for breakfast, brunch and cafe-style menu items to high standards monitors quality at every stage of food preparation and ensures consistency, flavour balance and visual appeal collaborates with the cafe manager and kitchen staff on menu changes, dietary requirements and seasonal adjustments ensures food safety compliance, proper storage and environmentally responsible kitchen practices trains kitchen staff in cooking techniques, hygiene procedures and waste-reduction methods manages inventory, orders supplies from local producers and assists in cost control to maintain budget targets Requirements: Proficiency in a range of cooking techniques and ability to deliver consistent high-quality dishes Capacity to design menus incorporating local and sustainable ingredients Knowledge of stock rotation, hygiene regulations and food safety compliance Ability to work effectively during busy service periods and train junior staff A qualification equivalent to an AQF Diploma and one year of relevant full-time (or part-time equivalent) work experience; OR At least three years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) relevant chef experience Cooks Responsible for preparing and cooking menu items consistently while maintaining food safety, freshness and cafe quality standards.
Key Duties: prepares ingredients and cooks breakfast, brunch and cafe-style dishes following established recipes and presentation guidelines checks the freshness and quality of ingredients, ensuring preference is given to locally sourced produce regulates temperatures of ovens, grills and other kitchen equipment to cook food safely and efficiently plates dishes neatly and consistently, adding sauces, garnishes and accompaniments to meet cafe standards prepares meals to accommodate special dietary requests, such as gluten-free, vegan or allergy-aware options maintains proper food storage, rotation and hygiene practices aligned with sustainability guidelines supports smoother kitchen operations by assisting with menu planning, prep work and training junior staff when required Requirements: Ability to assess ingredient freshness and maintain high preparation standards Knowledge of safe food storage, rotation and contamination prevention Capability to prepare dishes for special dietary needs (e.g., vegan, gluten-free) Ability to work efficiently during peak periods and support junior staff Hold a relevant qualification equivalent to an AQF Certificate III (including two years of on-the-job training); OR hold an AQF Certificate IV with at least one year of relevant work experience; Alternatively, at least three years of relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications.
Cafe manager Responsible for overseeing daily operations, staff coordination and customer service to ensure smooth, efficient and high-quality cafe performance.
Key Duties: coordinates daily cafe operations, including staff scheduling, stock ordering and maintaining a clean, welcoming dining environment works with chefs to plan menus that highlight local and sustainable produce and align with the cafe's food philosophy manages purchasing, supplier relationships and budgeting to support cost-effective and environmentally responsible operations oversees customer service standards by greeting guests, assisting with orders and responding to feedback ensures front-of-house and dining areas comply with hygiene and safety regulations maintains accurate records of stock levels, financial transactions and operational procedures recruits, trains and supervises kitchen and front-of-house staff to maintain high service standards assists in organising community events linked to the cafe's sustainability and recycling initiatives Requirements Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise kitchen and front-of-house teams Excellent organisational skills involving rostering, stock control and budgeting Strong customer service and conflict-resolution abilities Familiarity with reservations systems, POS operations and basic financial reporting Ability to maintain hygiene and safety compliance across the cafe A qualification equivalent to an AQF Diploma and one year of relevant full-time (or part-time equivalent) work experience; OR At least three years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) relevant managerial experience
