About the role:
We are seeking a motivated HR Generalist to join our supportive and collaborativeHR Team on a 12-month fixed-term basis. Reporting to the HR Manager and working closely with the HR and Payroll team, this role provides hands-on exposure to complex and meaningful HR work across a regional and diverse organisation.

* Provide key HR administrative support to the HR team.
* Assist with HR consultations to address internal stakeholder queries.
* Support the end-to-end recruitment process, including writing job ads, sourcing candidates, phone screening, and conducting police and reference checks.
* Interpret modern awards, enterprise agreements, and individual agreements.
* Ensure accurate communication and data flow between payroll, HR, and other departments.
* Collaborate with the HR team on projects and initiatives to drive continuous improvement.

Role Details:
Location: This position is based in Barcaldine with regional work and travel as required.
Classification Level: Level 6.1 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream A) Award - State 2017, and the Barcaldine Regional Council Certified Agreement 2025.
Wage: Minimum base salary of $90,671.36 per annum + Superannuation (up to 12%) and relevant approved allowances.
Payment of Wages: Council employees are paid fortnightly.
Hours of work: 72.5 hours over 9 days with a rostered day off every fortnight.
Leave: Five (5) weeks annual leave per annum + 17.5% loading. Fifteen (15) days Personal Leave (sick leave) per annum.

What we are looking for:
* A tertiary qualification in Human Resource Management
* Current Queensland class 'C' Driver Licence
* Demonstrated experience in the creation and application of policies and procedures
* Demonstrated experience in identifying and implementing quality improvement initiatives
* Experience in dealing with difficult stakeholders where empathy and discretion is required
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* An understanding of and complete commitment to confidentiality
* Strong computer, organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

The Regional Council is made up of the former Shires of Aramac, Barcaldine and Jericho including the towns of Alpha, Jericho, Barcaldine, Aramac and Muttaburra.
The region is one of the largest cattle producing regions in Central Western Queensland and also has a productive sheep, wool and macropod harvesting industry with the prospect of mining.
