Purchasing & Stores Officer We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Purchasing & Stores Officer to manage purchasing, inventory, and store operations at our Works Centre.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring internal teams are provided with the materials and equipment needed to carry out daily operations efficiently. About the role:As a Purchasing & Stores Officer, you will be responsible for managing procurement and inventory processes while overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Works Centre Store.
This role ensures the timely supply of materials, accurate stock control, and efficient store management to support operational teams. You will handle purchasing activities, including supplier coordination, processing purchase orders, and verifying invoices, while identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensuring value for money. The role also involves maintaining inventory systems, conducting stocktakes, and managing store presentation, equipment allocation, and compliance with chemical and safety requirements.
What you’ll bring:To be successful in this role, you will:Qualifications in Purchasing and Warehousing or another equivalent qualification, or a minimum 4 years’ experience in stores/purchasing procedures with a sound knowledge of stores and inventory management. Current registration to work with vulnerable people (RWVP)White card (Construction Induction)Forklift (LF) High Risk licence
Chemical Handling CertificateCurrent Driver’s license (C)Manual handling techniques
Good understanding of WHS frameworks with the demonstrated ability to identify, and problem solve using initiative. Sound verbal, numeracy and, literacy skills with demonstrated ability to successfully negotiate. Good interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and to provide excellent customer service.
Sound computer skills and competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and, Stores and Asset based software systems. A basic knowledge and understanding of the range and purpose of equipment, and materials used in a Municipal Works environment and the demonstrated ability to use a range of electric and manual hand tools.
Position details: Maximum term, 12 months, part time, 34 hours per fortnight – Tuesday & Thursdays Annual salary: $75,555.00 pro rata
