Job Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and adaptable Asset Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team supporting a major upstream gas operation in Queensland.
This role is instrumental in coordinating and delivering Access to Work (ATW) - the key project milestone that enables safe and approved execution of development activities.
About the Role
The Asset Engineer will be responsible for integrating Non-Technical Risk (NTR) considerations including tenures, permits, environment, noise, land access, social performance, cultural heritage, and commercial constraints across the full project lifecycle from Exploration through to Decommissioning and Restoration.
This role sits at the interface of planning and execution ensuring compliance with regulatory and license-to-operate obligations while driving value through scenario planning stakeholder engagement and efficient scheduling.
Key Responsibilities
* Drive project readiness via progression through the Upstream Delivery Process (UDP).
* Coordinate input and activities from cross-functional teams to ensure timely issuance of ATWs.
* Integrate NTR constraints into early design phases and construction plans to minimise HSSE and cost impacts.
* Manage interfaces with land access cultural heritage GIS environmental survey and engineering teams.
* Track and resolve conflicting technical non-technical and constructability issues across layouts and land parcels.
* Prepare and manage Project Change Requests (PCRs) to enhance scope or manage risks.
* Support development and delivery of post-ATW execution plans ensuring all stakeholder obligations are met.
* Identify risks early and propose mitigation strategies to maintain project delivery timelines.
* Monitor engineering design progress to align with development objectives and NTR compliance.
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering Geoscience Environmental Science Infrastructure Planning or related field.
* Strong background in onshore Oil & Gas or infrastructure development projects.
* Understanding of Non-Technical Risk (NTR) components such as environmental permitting land access social and cultural heritage factors.
* Familiarity with Brownfield and Greenfield design constructability and execution workflows.
* Excellent communication stakeholder engagement and conflict resolution abilities.
* Ability to manage planning across strategic and tactical timeframes with limited formal authority.
* Experienced in risk assessments mitigation planning and project change control.
* Awareness of HSSE and process safety considerations during field development.
