About the Role
As a valued member of the Human Resources team, you will help deliver the City's fortnightly payroll accurately, confidentially and on time. You will administer payroll documentation, support compliance with industrial instruments and legislation, and ensure high-quality data accuracy within the payroll system (CouncilFirst).
You'll work closely with the Senior Payroll Officer, assist with system improvements, and contribute to continuous improvement projects across the HR team.
What You'll Be Doing
* Deliver confidential, accurate and timely payroll services
* Maintain payroll operations in accordance with policy, legislation and industrial instruments
* Process new starters, changes and terminations
* Maintain and cleanse data within the HRIS, assist with system updates and reporting
* Respond to employee queries
* Develop and maintain payroll records and documentation
* Assist with spreadsheets, calculations and reconciliations
* Provide relief for the Senior Payroll Officer, as required
* Support broader HR continuous improvement projects
Who We're Looking For
You'll thrive in this role if you have:
* Experience in payroll and/or payroll administration roles
* High accuracy, numeracy skills and attention to detail
* Strong understanding of superannuation, taxation and workers' compensation
* Excellent communication and customer service skills
* Experience with Microsoft Office and payroll systems
* Ability to interpret and apply industrial relations instruments and policies
* Certificate IV or Diploma in HR/Business (desirable)
* Current National Police Clearance
