Sofitel Brisbane Central is seeking talented and enthusiastic Cooks to join our culinary team. Located in the heart of Brisbane our luxury 5-star hotel is renowned for delivering exceptional service and unforgettable dining experiences. As a Cook in our hotel you will play a crucial role in preparing high-quality dishes maintaining kitchen standards and contributing to an exceptional dining experience for our guests.
* Prepare and cook a variety of hot and cold food items according to recipes and quality standards
* Ensure proper food handling sanitation and safety practices in all food preparation areas
* Collaborate with kitchen staff to maintain efficient operations and meet customer expectations
* Assist in menu planning and development of new dishes
* Manage food inventory including ordering supplies and minimising waste
* Maintain a clean and organised work environment
* Operate and maintain kitchen equipment properly
* Adapt to changing needs and handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced setting
* Participate in team efforts to improve kitchen processes and overall dining experience
* Comply with all relevant health department regulations and organisational policies.
Qualifications
Flexibility to work across different shifts including evenings weekends and public holidays.
* Previous experience in a similar role within a luxury or five-star environment
* Trade Qualification in Commercial Cookery
* Maintain impeccable hygiene and kitchen standards in line with HACCP requirements
* Current Food Handlers certificate
* Strong knowledge of various cooking methods ingredients and kitchen procedures
* Excellent knife skills and ability to operate standard kitchen equipment
* Proficiency in preparing a wide range of cuisines and dietary options
* Ability to read and execute recipes accurately
* Strong verbal communication skills to interact effectively with team members and guests
* Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays
* Basic computer skills for using kitchen management systems
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced high-pressure environment
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality and presentation
* Team-oriented mindset with a positive attitude
* Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred but not required with sufficient experience
* Basic English language proficiency.
