Position Details
Employment Type: 32 hours per week - Part Time, Permanent; or potential for Visiting Medical Officer
Classification: Staff Specialist / Senior Specialist or Visiting Medical Officer
Total Salary Package: 305,300 to 404,970 (pro rata for part time) - Excluding Attraction and Retention Incentive
Package includes: Base Salary 188,151 to 254,198 + Private Practice Scheme Allowance + On-call allowance + Medical Education Expense Allowance + Superannuation (12%). Note: Starting base salary will be negotiated within this classification based on experience and expertise.
About The Role
The Division of Surgery supports inpatient and outpatient surgical services to the ACT and surrounding region, including peri-operative services, Day Surgery Unit, Extended Day Surgery Unit, surgical wards, Pain Management Unit, outpatient services, ACT Trauma Service, Intensive Care Unit, Capital Region Retrieval Service and the Trauma and Orthopaedic Research Unit. The successful candidate will provide tertiary paediatric surgical services to ACT and NSW patients, participate in acute and non-acute paediatric surgical services, and support other disciplines within CHS and the wider paediatric community.
A performance assessment will be conducted within three months of commencing employment, with annual performance reviews covering management responsibilities, quality improvement, clinical governance, teaching, continuing education and research. Strong research links exist with ANU, University of Canberra and Australian Catholic University; a fully equipped medical library is available on site.
The preferred candidate may be considered for a conjoint position in ANU at an academic level commensurate with qualifications and experience. The academic position has no separate remuneration; the employee remains under CHS clinical/research matters.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Hold Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
- Meet credentialing requirements and receive an Endorsed scope of clinical practice from the Medical Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC)
- Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check
- Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy
