Seniors Social Support Visitor - have a tea while doing something creative - Riverside TAS 7250
The Role: The Aged Care Volunteer Visiting Scheme (ACVVS), funded by the Australian Government, connects volunteers with an older person who is feeling lonely and/or socially isolated, to build friendships and reduce feelings of loneliness. In your volunteer role you will be paired with an aging senior to provide them regular social support visits in their home. Activities during your visit are based on yours and your client's interests and could include conversation, board games, listening to music or sharing stories. Get to know someone new and make a difference in your local community!
Our Client: A woman in her early 80s living in Riverside is looking for someone to come and visit her on a regular basis. She is described for the care team as a beautiful soul and loves listening to music. She loves colouring in, crafts and also does some knitting, she used to knit trauma teddies for St Johns ambulance. Who knows you could knit together! Though health challenges have limited her ability to create, her spirit and stories remain as colourful as ever.
This is where you come in.
By spending time with her for regular social visits sharing a cup of tea, looking through old photographs, and listening to tales from her remarkable past you'll help bring joy and connection to her day. She would prefer a female visitor, and your presence can make a meaningful difference.
