Instrumental Music Teacher - Piano/Keyboard Employer: Kat's Keys Sound Foundations Music School
For Term 2 2026 onwards for a permanent casual teaching role in local primary schools for small group lessons (students taught individually) and private lessons.
To be considered for the role, the Applicant must submit a music relevant resume with proven music experience (e.g. piano exam results and certificates/music degree/equivalent).
The right candidate will ideally live locally to the Yarra Valley/Surrounding Municipalities of the Outer Eastern suburbs of Melbourne and is either:
* Looking to start their Music Teaching career and can commit Long Term (please don't apply if you're only seeking short term work);
* An experienced Keyboard/Piano Tutor/Teacher who is wanting to add to their existing teaching schedule or looking to reduce their workload by solely working for our Team 2 days/week.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
You will be teaching a Keyboard Program to beginner-level Primary School students in a group setting, with each student taught individually, in turn.
Schools are located in the Mooroolbark and Lilydale (VIC) area and surrounding suburbs in Primary Schools during school hours, where the program is already well-established. In addition to potential private teaching work, either at school during school hours, or after-school in the student's home or your home (if you have a suitable set up and live locally).
Minimal admin duties (majority of the Administration duties are the Owner/Director's responsibility).
You will be well supported with a Music School policy in place, Admin support, Professional Teaching advice, and a great Team!
All Equipment is provided during employment.
Prior teaching experience an advantage but as training will be provided and required, entry level candidates with relevant music experience/qualifications will be considered.
Please note: Shortlisted candidates must be available for immediate training to allow sufficient time for employment to commence in Term 2 2026. Training sessions will be conducted via Zoom with the Owner/Director for 2-3 sessions (approx. 1-2hrs/session) or as required and the successful candidate will be available to observe lessons to see how the program runs prior to commencing lessons.
EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION:
Casual employment (inclusive of Superannuation and accumulation of Long Service Leave) with regular set teaching days during the school terms.
Starting rate for an Entry level successful applicant would be $36/hr (+ Super and LSL accrual). For Teachers with experience &/or higher qualifications, rates are negotiable but please keep in mind that the rates are not equivalent to self-employed private tuition rates as the students are not paying premium tuition fees).
CANDIDATE AVAILABILITY:
In addition to occasional fill in work, the successful candidate will teach in 2-3 Primary schools (already established with the Keyboard program), across 2 days each week.

* You must be available during the school terms and easily contactable, especially during enrolment week (2nd week of the school holidays) and responsive to emails and sms.
* Current drivers licence and Reliable vehicle (with room to carry equipment).
* Working with Children Check or willing to apply for one asap.
* IMPORTANT: Proof of music exam results (AMEB, ANZCA, etc)/music qualifications or equivalent teaching experience.
