Northern Rivers Eye Surgeons – Ballina NSW
Northern Rivers Eye Surgeons has been providing comprehensive eye diagnostics and treatments to the Northern Rivers regions of Lismore and Ballina, northern NSW for over 25 years. We work mostly with Adults (over 15 years of age) in the treatment of Cataracts, Glaucoma, Macula Degeneration, Oculoplastic disorders, NeuroOphthalmology and Strabismus.
We are looking for a Clinical Assistant to join our team in the Ballina and Lismore practices commencing in 2026.
Qualifications
Orthoptist or Optometric qualifications are preferred but we will consider other suitable candidates.
The successful candidate requires efficiency, accuracy and proficiency in the use of diagnostic equipment in the Clinic.
Responsibilities
* History taking
* Visual acuity testing
* I Care Intraocular Pressure testing
* Use of Autorefractor
* Humphrey Visual field testing
* Performance of OCT using Zeiss Cirrus and Heidelberg Spectralis
* Use of IOL Master 500 and 700
* Installation of eye drops
* Assisting at intravitreal injections
* Ordering medical supplies and intraocular lenses
Proficiency in the use of technology including AI (iScribe) in performing these tasks is necessary.
You will work as part of a team of clerical staff, nursing staff and medical staff which includes 1 Principal Ophthalmologist and trainee Ophthalmologists. You will have a clerical assistant and answer to the Principal Ophthalmologist.
Benefits
The position is Permanent, Part-time with hours of work between 9 am and 5 pm, with no after-hours requirement.
Pay rates are negotiable depending on the applicants' qualifications and proficiencies.
Accommodation is available to assist with re-location.
The position becomes available with the retirement, after 16 years, of the current Orthoptist.
