**Job Description**:
We are looking for an experienced Asbestos Analysts to join our expanding and dynamic team in Alexandria NSW to commence ASAP.
**Responsibilities**:
- Assist management in maintaining SGS' capability to analyse buidling material, soils, water and air. In particular, to conduct routine analyses in the Hygiene section and to deliver quality and timely laboratory results.
- With mínimal supervision and a degree of independence, initiative and judgment, undertake routine preparation and analysis of soil and water samples.
- Perform Asbestos fibre counting and Asbestos identification on a range of materials including building materials, soil, water and dust samples.
- Perform onsite sampling as required by the client.
- Become an authorised signatory for Fibre counting and Fibre identification
- Participate in external and internal proficiency testing as required by the business
- Carry out scheduled instrument calibration and maintenance in accordance with documented procedures.
- Monitor and report on the progress of work performed. Prioritise routine work in accordance with the supervisor and general work priority guidelines and ensure all assigned analyses or allocated tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- Understand and uphold general laboratory QA/QC criteria and NATA accreditation requirements and ensure the quality of data produced fulfils the requirements of SGS's quality policy, NATA certification and stated data quality objectives.
- Ensure equipment and laboratory is kept clean to avoid contamination and protect the company's assets.
- Maintain and update skills, qualifications and knowledge through courses and on the job training to support improvement.
- Develop and validate new analytical methods and instrumentation as required by the business.
**Qualifications**:
- Appropriate tertiary qualification desirable, TAFE certificates minimum.
- Demonstrable experience in an environmental laboratory, specifically Asbestos analyst.
- Previous NATA signatory status in asbestos identification preferred.
