About the opportunity -

This is a hands-on Payroll Officer role where your expertise will ensure the accurate and timely delivery of payroll for a large and diverse workforce of over 700 employees. You will play a critical role in supporting employee confidence and trust by delivering a compliant, customer-focused payroll service aligned with Awards, legislation and Council policies. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and enjoys being the go-to payroll expert.

You will make an impact by

* Delivering end-to-end payroll processing for a non-negotiable fortnightly pay run supporting full-time, part-time and casual employees
* Ensuring payroll is processed accurately and compliantly in line with Awards, Enterprise Agreement, legislation and internal policies
* Maintaining HRIS integrity through accurate data entry, approvals, reporting and system security
* Providing responsive, accurate and customer-focused payroll advice to employees and external stakeholders
* Contributing to service improvement initiatives, projects, and system enhancements to improve employee experience

What you will bring

* Demonstrated experience delivering end-to-end payroll in a medium to large organisation with at least 600+ employees
* Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation, PAYG, superannuation, leave and salary administration
* Proven ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and maintain exceptional attention to detail
* Experience using HRIS and payroll systems (Aurion experience highly regarded) and strong MS Office skills
* Excellent communication skills with a professional, approachable and service-oriented mindset
* High level of accuracy, discretion and integrity when handling confidential information
* A proactive, adaptable approach with the ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environment
