The Opportunity

As a Trainee Livestock Buyer, you will assist with executing against the Livestock procurement strategy to meet current and future requirements.

Your primary goal will be to maximise value creation through effective procurement practices.


About You

You will be an enthusiastic individual with a keen interest in the livestock industry and a desire to grow your career in procurement and supply chain operations.

* You should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
* You must have strong project planning, coordination, and task completion skills.
* You should be confident in preparing and delivering clear, professional presentations tailored to various audiences.
* You need confidence in analysing and interpreting data for sound decision-making.
* You should possess high emotional intelligence, with strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration.


Your Responsibilities

You will work closely with the Livestock team to support end-to-end supply chain process.

* You will assist with livestock purchasing execution to meet supply, specification, and price targets.
* You will support the development of livestock programs aligning with sales demand and customer expectations.
* You will contribute to the coordination of livestock logistics ensuring production schedules and targets are achieved.
* You will liaise with Livestock Coordinators to align procurement and scheduling with production planning.
* You will monitor, review, and report on livestock pricing trends considering key market and industry drivers.
* You will support the development and maintenance of feedlot costing models for cost-effectiveness and transparency.
* You will maintain accurate and up-to-date records within Livestock Central system.
* You will facilitate professional and efficient information flow between Livestock Procurement and internal/external stakeholders.
* You will actively participate in meetings and forums related to livestock procurement and broader industry discussions.
* You will proactively identify and escalate potential risks or opportunities to Head of Livestock.
