The Governance, Assurance and Compliance Specialist plays a key role in supporting Telstra Health’s vision of delivering a connected digital health environment. Reporting to the Senior Governance, Assurance and Compliance Specialist, this role ensures that the organisation’s compliance framework and assurance activities are not only robust but also aligned with the goals of improving healthcare delivery through technology. This, in turn, supports the secure, efficient, and reliable integration of digital health solutions that are critical to realising an improved and connected health experience for all. Please note, this is a Full Time, 12 month Fixed Term contract. About the role: Overview By maintaining a strong compliance framework and overseeing enterprise-wide assurance initiatives, the Governance, Assurance and Compliance Specialist ensures that Telstra Health's systems, processes, and innovations meet regulatory standards and operate seamlessly, delivering on the following key accountabilities: Assurance Processes Under the supervision of the Senior Governance, Assurance and Compliance Specialist, plan and support the execution of assigned assurance activities as per the second line Assurance Plan, including assurance reviews and controls testing. Assist in the development of the Annual Assurance Plan. Ensuring high quality work aligned with Telstra Health's Risk Management Framework, Risk Management Standard and Assurance Methodology. Delivering independent, risk-based assessments of the effectiveness of processes, the controls, and the compliance environment of Telstra Health. Efficiently supporting the delivery of quality workpapers, walkthroughs, risk and control identification, control design and operating effectiveness assessments and consequence analysis. Assist in drafting assurance engagement reports to effectively communicate assurance outcomes to Executive. Assessing management’s actions to address risks identified through the delivery of the Annual Assurance Plan. Compliance Process Support the Senior Governance, Assurance and Compliance Specialist in the development and on-going maintenance of the Compliance Framework, to support compliance with legal and regulatory requirements including: Support the business to maintain the compliance obligations register. Developing and maintaining the process for identifying and responding to regulatory changes. Supporting the first line of defence’s compliance capabilities, including by providing compliance tools, templates, systems and the management of compliance related training courses. Assist in the assessment of gifts and benefits and conflicts of interest declarations to ensure compliance with Telstra policies. Demonstrate strong business acumen and resilience to effectively navigate complex matters and make informed decisions as well as supporting others to make informed decisions. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication Develop and maintain trusted and effective working relationships with senior stakeholders. Demonstrate exceptional communication and influencing skills at senior management levels to assist with assurance and compliance awareness, activities and decision-making. Experience in delivering internal audits, reviews, controls testing and health checks. A developing understanding of compliance frameworks and assurance programs. An understanding of the importance of stakeholder engagement and management skills, an awareness of your personal authenticity and willingness to continually develop your skills to influence stakeholders to achieve outcomes. Problem solving and decision-making skills. Ability to multitask and navigate competing priorities. Ability to work in a small team to deliver multiple outcomes. Exceptional communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. Continuous process improvement mindset. Work experience should show experience in performing effective compliance and assurance activities across an organisation.
