Assesses applications to determine eligibility for redress, including financial and non-financial redress Great opportunity - Full time / fixed term role until 31 December 2026 VPS5 salary: $113,022 to $136,747 plus superannuation About the Business Unit: Victim Services, Support and Reform (VSSR) is part of the Police, Victims, Racing and Coordination Group within the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS). VSSR is responsible for the delivery and reform of services to victims of crime, placing victims at the centre of the justice system. In addition to providing direct services to victims of crime, VSSR leads the development and implementation of victim-related policy and program innovation within DJCS and across government. This includes working closely with other areas of DJCS, Justice entities, other government departments and external stakeholders. About the Role: The position is responsible for the assessment of applications, preparing reasons for decisions and ongoing policy development to support the delivery of the schemes. This position requires dealing with material that can be challenging and distressing. This role will best suit a candidate who is resilient and empathetic. Some of your duties will include: Efficiently handling high caseloads while effectively managing all aspects of the assessment process. Producing high quality, clear and objective written documents in accordance with the scheme's assessment guidelines. Critically analysing applications to determine whether the applicant's experience is within the scope of the scheme, meets the scheme's standard of proof, and is eligible for redress; and recommend assessment outcomes for Director approval. Experience in policy development/research capability, including the ability to apply legislation and principles associated with criminal law, equal opportunity, social policy, criminal justice.
