Clean Energy Assets and Compliance Manager

The Position

We are strongly encouraging First Nations applicants for this role.

The Clean Energy Assets and Compliance Manager will play a leading role in the development and management of Original Power's portfolio of community-led renewable energy projects, with a focus on renewable energy asset management, contractor engagement and safety and regulatory compliance.

Success in this role will require the ability to develop and implement renewable energy compliance processes including maintaining a growing renewable energy asset base, and ensure regulatory and legal compliance to support the successful long-term operation and maintenance of projects across First Nations communities.

The Clean Energy Assets and Compliance Manager will have strong understanding of renewable energy system design, regulatory and contract compliance processes and project management skills and will support a small and dedicated team of staff operating across urban and remote locations in Australia.

The role will work from home with regular travel required to undertake project and asset management related activity, with occasional participation in organisational gatherings.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the role include:

* Perform regular diagnostic checks of the health, safety and performance of our renewable energy systems, including adherence to legal and regulatory requirements and operating conditions.
* Implementing and managing compliance processes as the first responder to any compliance, risk or contract issues raised in relation to clean energy projects.
* Develop, review and maintain contracts and compliance processes and frameworks across Original Power's portfolio of renewable energy projects and program activities, supporting Project Leads in project-specific contract management.
* Maintain and enhance Original Power's Clean Energy Asset Database as the single source of truth for asset health, implementing an early warning system to identify and address operational or maintenance issues before they impact project outcomes.
* Facilitate and support Clean Energy Project Leads in eff ective communication and problem-solving with subcontractors, suppliers, and delivery partners, supporting respectful and timely resolution of operational or contractual issues.
* Provide oversight and support throughout the negotiation, implementation, and monitoring of partnership and service agreements, ensuring mutual accountability, cultural integrity, and alignment with Original Power's strategic objectives.
* Liaise with legal, regulatory, and governance partners to ensure compliance with relevant laws, standards, and reporting obligations for renewable energy projects on Country, supporting Project Leads as required.
* Conduct quarterly visits to key project sites and communities to monitor progress, engage with partners and community members, verify compliance, and support on-the-ground coordination of project delivery.
* Undertake scoping of legal and regulatory pathways and compliance plans for new and existing renewable energy projects and assets across remote First Nations communities in the Northern Territory and other locations around Australia.
* Provide portfolio-level oversight and support to Project Leads in navigating regulatory processes, including Connection and Power Purchase Agreements, and contracts with a range of renewable energy industry service providers.
* Establish and oversee risk management and procurement frameworks, supporting Project Leads to apply these consistently and eff ectively across projects.
* Manage and maintain compliance registers related to clean energy projects and organisation-wide obligations, ensuring legal, contractual, safety, and environmental requirements are tracked, current, and reported on.
* Monitor and manage project-based compliance, including safety, environmental, and financial commitments, to ensure delivery in accordance with funding agreements, legislation, and internal policies, supporting Project Leads to address any gaps and risks
* Participate in and support organisational strategic planning and goal setting as needed.
