About the Role / Are you up for the challenge?


As a Track & Civil Site Engineer on the Inland Rail Beveridge to Albury Tranche 2 (B2A) Project, you will play a critical role in delivering one of Australia's most significant rail infrastructure projects.

You will work closely with a highly skilled team to ensure the seamless planning, coordination, and execution of track and civil works. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact while developing your career with one of Australia's leading construction companies.

This is a unique opportunity to apply your engineering expertise in a complex, brownfield environment that requires innovative problem-solving and collaboration.

The project involves challenging staging requirements and coordination across two rail operators (ARTC and V/Line), making it a highly dynamic and rewarding position for an experienced and adaptable professional.


Project Description


Inland Rail is transforming how goods are moved around Australia, connecting Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. This 1,700km fast freight backbone will complete our national freight network – better connecting producers to markets and creating new opportunities for regional businesses, industries and communities.

The Beveridge to Albury (B2A) project is the Victorian portion of the program undertaken along approximately 305 kms of existing northeast rail corridor between Beveridge and Albury. B2A is staged in two tranches. Tranche 1 includes enhancement works across four sites and corridor wide works.

Tranche 2 works will be delivered by John Holland and includes adjustment of track alignments, the provision of new road overbridges and station modifications to enable the safe operation of double-stack freight trains across eight B2A project sites between Wandong and Benalla.



Responsibilities of the role include / What you will do;


Overall responsibility for the role on this high-profile major project includes:

* Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of track and civil construction activities.
* Ensure that all works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, safety standards, and timelines.
* Monitor and manage subcontractor performance, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
* Prepare and review work method statements, risk assessments, and other project documentation.
* Conduct site inspections and quality checks to ensure compliance with safety and design standards.
* Collaborate with project teams to resolve technical issues and drive project efficiency.
* Support the preparation of project reports, schedules, and progress tracking.
* Contribute to a culture of safety, innovation, and teamwork.
* Work closely with the Project Engineer and works Supervisors in striving for the common project outcomes


To be successful in this key role, you must have / What we are looking for;

* A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
* Proven experience in a site engineering role, preferably within rail, civil, or infrastructure projects.
* Knowledge of rail and civil construction methodologies, standards, and practices.
* Have actively worked towards planning and execution of occupations in a rail environment.
* Have a competent understanding of the risk management approach in the construction industry.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
* A proactive, team-oriented attitude with a commitment to safety and quality.
* Relevant rail safety and construction industry certifications (desirable).
