Overview
Earlier this year, building on the strong foundation of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) as a fund manager, we introduced an optimized CIP Platform, with three platform companies providing services to CIP. In our optimized CIP Platform, CIP Terra Technologies (CIP TT) – a project delivery company delivering projects from onshore wind, solar PV and battery energy storage systems, to bioenergy, thermal and transmission infrastructure – is currently looking for a Project Commercial Director, to join our office in Melbourne, Australia.
Team
The candidate will become part of the CIP Terra Technologies team in Melbourne & Brisbane. The team currently consists of ~10 employees with renewable energy backgrounds and we are building out the team.
Role
This is a newly created role within the CIP TT APAC team leading the commercial and finance workstreams across multiple projects. As Commercial Director, you will take full responsibility for commercial and financial integration across a portfolio of renewable energy projects across the projects’ lifecycle, including feasibility, late-stage development, construction phases and operations phase. This includes responsibility for the projects’ business cases, offtake, insurance, and financial strategy. In the project organizations you are part of, you are lead junior team members across financial disciplines such as business case, financial and commercial management. The role reports to the Project CEO for the selected projects.
The role is expected to integrate and manage all commercial, financial, and business case related workstreams within the project, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and governance. Acting as the senior commercial lead, responsible for offtake strategy, and insurance.
Responsibilities
* Lead integration of commercial, financial, and business case workstreams for a portfolio of renewable energy projects
* Oversee offtake strategy, offtake bids, and insurance
* Ownership of the project investment case and assumptions book
* Ensure consistency and traceability of financial assumptions incl. reporting into the valuation process
* Support the Project CEO in strategic decision-making and board communication
* Manage the commercial project team members to ensure right quality and timeliness of deliverables
* Drive the development of commercial materials for board presentations
* Ensure effective value creation and risk mitigation across commercial domains. Execute project commercial value levers to implementation
You
We are looking for a motivated individual holding a relevant degree (commerce, finance, or law) and a minimum of 12 years of full-time experience in a similar role within an investment organization in the energy sector.
Candidate Profile
* Good commercial and financial acumen
* Deep understanding of energy markets and the key value drivers for a renewable energy project
* Proficient understanding of commercial risk and mitigation strategies
* Strategic thinking and stakeholder management
* Good Communication and leadership skills
* Extensive experience in infrastructure or energy projects
* Demonstrated experience securing and negotiating offtake agreements
* Experience in insurance
* Senior-level exposure to cross-functional project teams
* Results-driven with a high execution orientation, and a focus on effective problem solving and clear communication
