Lead UI/UX Designer – HR Tech SaaS (B2B Web & Mobile)

About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Lead UI/UX Designer to shape the user experience of our HR technology platform—a B2B web application used by HR teams, managers, and employees to streamline workforce operations. You will design intuitive, scalable, and user-centric interfaces that simplify complex HR workflows such as onboarding, rostering, performance management, time & attendance, and employee engagement.
This role is ideal for a designer who thrives in data-rich environments and enjoys turning multi-step business processes into frictionless digital experiences, across both desktop and mobile.

Key Responsibilities
UX Strategy & Research
* Lead end-to-end UX discovery and design for HR workflows such as scheduling, approvals, leave management, and workforce insights.
* Conduct research with HR administrators, people managers, and employees to understand their needs, pain points, and behaviours.
* Map user journeys for varied roles and permissions across an organisational structure.
* Develop wireframes, interaction flows, and prototypes that simplify HR processes and reduce administrative load.
UI Design & Design Systems
* Produce high-fidelity UI designs for web and mobile-responsive interactions, ensuring clarity, accessibility, and ease of adoption for diverse user groups.
* Maintain a unified component library and design system to support consistency across multi-module HR tools.
* Work closely with front-end developers to ensure accurate and efficient implementation of UI components.
Cross-functional Collaboration
* Partner with the Product Manager to translate HR and compliance requirements into intuitive experiences.
* Collaborate with developers to refine technical solutions and iterate based on feasibility and performance considerations.
* Communicate design decisions clearly and advocate for user-centred HR tech design within the organisation.
* Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers (where applicable).
Continuous Improvement & Testing
* Conduct usability testing sessions with HR users to validate designs and identify improvements.
* Analyse user behaviour and feedback to drive iterative enhancements.
* Ensure the platform aligns with HR best practices, accessibility standards (WCAG), and mobile usability expectations.

Skills & Experience
Required
* 5+ years of UI/UX experience, preferably in SaaS, enterprise software, or HR tech.
* Strong portfolio showcasing data-heavy applications, workflow design, and responsive web/mobile UX.
* Deep understanding of user-centred design and research methodologies.
* Expertise with modern design tools (e.g., Figma), prototyping, and design-to-development handoff processes.
* Ability to translate regulatory, compliance, or workflow-heavy requirements into simple and intuitive experiences.
* Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Customer Success, etc.).
* Familiarity with employee lifecycle processes (onboarding, scheduling, performance, learning, timekeeping, etc.)
Nice to Have
* Experience designing for HRIS, workforce management, payroll, or people analytics products.
* Understanding of accessibility requirements in workplace technology.
* Experience in Agile/Scrum teams.
* Experience contributing to a scalable design system.
