Tennant Consolidated Mining Group Pty Ltd (TCMG) is a gold resource company with an extensive exploration portfolio, including the Tennant Creek Goldfield. We are seeking an experienced full time Mine Surveyor reporting directly to the Senior Mine Surveyor.
The Mine Surveyor is responsible for providing high-quality survey control and data management for all surface and underground mining activities. You will ensure all survey work is conducted in a safe, timely manner and complies with company standards and statutory regulations. Your expertise will be critical in guiding the operational teams, from surface exploration activities through to active production and reconciliation.
Key Responsibilities
General Duties:
* Manage and maintain the site's survey control network, ensuring its integrity and accuracy.
* Prepare and issue clear mine plans, instructions, and reports to mining personnel.
* Conduct end-of-month volume calculations, reconciliations, and reporting for stockpiles, production, and development.
* Champion a culture of safety and ensure all survey activities adhere to the site's Safety Management System.
* Mentor and provide guidance to junior surveyors and survey assistants.
* Maintain all survey equipment, ensuring regular calibration and optimal performance.
* Utilise and manage data from modern survey instrumentation, including GPS/GNSS, total stations, laser scanners, and UAVs (drones).
Open Pit:
* Provide accurate survey control for exploration and grade control drilling.
* Set out and pick up all pit designs, including crests, toes, ramps, and blast patterns.
* Conduct regular surveys of pit progression, waste dumps, and stockpiles for planning and reconciliation.
* Operate UAV/drones for aerial surveys, photogrammetry, and volume analysis.
* Monitor pit wall stability and dump movement as required.
Underground:
* Provide precise survey control for all underground development and production activities (drives, stopes, raises, etc.).
* Conduct CMS (Cavity Monitoring System) surveys of stopes and voids.
* Maintain and advance the survey control network through the underground workings.
* Ensure accurate set-out of development headings and production drill rings.
* Update and maintain all statutory underground mine plans.
Collaboration & Communication:
* Liaise effectively with mining engineers, geologists, metallurgists, and other site personnel to optimise ore extraction and processing.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* Bachelor's Degree in Surveying, Spatial Science, Geospatial Science, or a related discipline.
* A minimum of 5 years of mine surveying experience.
* Demonstrated, hands-on experience in both open pit and underground mining environments is mandatory.
* Proficiency with modern survey instrumentation (e.g., Leica or Trimble robotic total stations and GPS).
* High proficiency with mine design and survey software (e.g., Deswik, Surpac, or similar).
* A current "C" class manual driver's license.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred
* Northern Territory Authorised Mine Surveyor's Certificate (Grade 1 or 2), or the ability to obtain one.
* Experience with UAV/drone operations and data processing (e.g., Pix4D, Propeller).
* Experience with laser scanning and data processing.
* Previous experience in a remote work environment.
* Northern Territory Residents are strongly encouraged to apply, however other FIFO options can be considered.
