Known for delivering exceptional dining experiences, we are seeking a skilled Sous Chef to support kitchen operations and assist the Head Chef in delivering consistent and high-quality cuisine. Role Overview: As the Sous Chef at NOA, you will assist the Head Chef in managing the kitchen team, ensuring smooth service operations, and maintaining the highest culinary standards. This role requires strong cooking skills, leadership ability, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
* Kitchen Support:
* Assist the Head Chef in supervising kitchen staff and daily operations.
* Coordinate kitchen activities during preparation and service periods.
* Ensure food preparation meets quality and presentation standards.
* Food Preparation:
* Prepare and cook dishes according to menu specifications.
* Ensure consistency in food quality and portion control.
* Maintain efficient kitchen workflow during service.
* Staff Training:
* Support training and mentoring of junior kitchen staff.
* Promote teamwork and efficient communication in the kitchen.
* Inventory & Stock Control:
* Assist with stock monitoring and ingredient ordering.
* Maintain proper storage of food and kitchen supplies.
* Food Safety:
* Ensure kitchen hygiene and food safety standards are maintained.
* Follow all food handling regulations and procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent (mandatory).
* Minimum of 1 year of full-time relevant experience in a commercial kitchen.
* Strong culinary skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work under pressure during busy service periods.
* Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Job Details:
* Employment Type: Full-time
* Salary: $69,000 – $77,000 per year
Schedule:
* 8-hour shifts (day, afternoon, and evening)
Supplementary Pay:
* Performance-based bonuses
Work Location: In-person at NOA, Edge Hill, Cairns.
