Shipwright and Marine Construction Specialist
We are seeking an experienced Shipwright to join our team. This is a hands-on role requiring precision, technical knowledge, and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Undertake structural repairs and refits on wooden, GRP, and composite vessels.
* Fabricate and install bulkheads, frames, decks, and internal joinery.
* Componentry cataloguing, removal, and reinstallation on vessels 10m to 60m.
* Teak deck installations or refinishing.
* Gelcoat repairs & spray painting.
* Interpret and work from technical drawings, specifications, and surveys.
* Collaboration with marine engineers, surveyors, and other skilled trades.
* Maintenance of compliance with safety and regulatory frameworks.
* Contribution to high-quality finishes and detail-oriented craftsmanship.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* A current trade Certificate III in Marine Craft Construction.
* Minimum 3 years' professional experience in a shipwright or senior boatbuilding capacity.
* Proficiency in traditional and modern marine construction techniques.
* Strong understanding of marine materials and their applications.
* Ability to work unsupervised with accuracy and accountability.
* Familiarity with maritime safety and compliance standards.
* Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Punctuality and reliability with a great work ethic.
* Diversification and multitasking abilities.
* Forward thinking and the ability to use your own initiative.
* Will to consider candidates with a strong work ethic and keen interest in the marine industry.
* Experience working on commercial, production, or custom yachts.
* Competence in associated skills such as laminating, cabinetry construction, or mechanical fitting.
