The Opportunity
Are you a commercial professional with a strong background in infrastructure, project finance, or transaction management?
We are looking for a Senior Commercial Analyst (Infrastructure Transactions) to join a specialized deal team within the NSW Government. In this dynamic role, you will provide expert commercial advice, analysis, and support for major reform initiatives. You will work closely with external advisors and internal stakeholders to support high-value transactions and direct negotiations with industry partners.
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, you will play a key role in the development and delivery of expert advice to decision-makers. Your work will focus on the analysis, documentation, and coordination required to deliver value-for-money outcomes for the State.
Key Accountabilities:
* Commercial Advice & Analysis: Contribute to the provision of timely, expert, and strategic commercial advice to support Toll Reform evaluation and implementation activities.
* Transaction Support: Support negotiations and provide specialist advice on complex commercial terms and documentation for project planning, procurement, and delivery.
* Advisor Coordination: Work closely with and manage external advisors across finance, legal, accounting, and tax disciplines to implement reform initiatives effectively.
* Stakeholder Coordination: Manage and coordinate input from various internal teams to ensure a coherent and consistent government approach to major project development.
* Risk Management: Continuously review, identify, and manage commercial risks to ensure they are appropriately mitigated and meet high standards of probity and public scrutiny.
* Team Contribution: Provide input and guidance to team members to promote change, build capability, and improve overall efficiency and effectiveness.
About You
You are a proactive professional who thrives in complex, fast-changing environments. You possess strong analytical skills and the ability to translate technical financial or legal information for diverse audiences. You are comfortable managing sensitive consultations and balancing competing demands within tight deadlines.
Essential Requirements:
* Industry Experience: Experience in infrastructure, construction, major projects, or project finance within a public sector organization, private infrastructure company, or professional services firm.
* Transaction Skills: Experience structuring, negotiating, and executing infrastructure transactions, including participation in financial and legal due diligence.
* Technical Knowledge: Understanding of various contracting models, risk allocation, project finance, and claims management.
Core Capabilities:
* Communicate Effectively: Ability to present with credibility, engage diverse audiences, and translate complex technical information clearly.
* Project Management: Understand effective planning, coordination, and control methods to deliver project goals.
* Finance: Ability to understand and apply financial processes to achieve value for money and minimize financial risk.
Qualifications:
Tertiary qualifications in commerce, finance, law, engineering, construction management, or a related discipline are preferred.
