Classification Grade and Level - Clinical Nurse Consultant A (ZF4)
**About the position**
The role of the Infection, Prevention & Control Co-ordinator (IPCC) is to:
- Manage the IP&C Unit as well as oversee the RAC IP&C Lead.
- Drive the Seymour Health Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) program, ensuring organisational policies and procedures meet legislative and regulatory requirements, and clinical and non-clinical practices are current best practice
- Provide strategic advice to the executive team, and expert consultancy to all disciplines and departments as required regarding infection prevention and control and related issues.
- Investigate and manage infectious outbreaks in collaboration with all relevant staff
- Construction and renovation: for both major and minor works, advise re IPC considerations and risk management strategy to minimise the risk of construction related infections.
- Collaboration with other departments within areas of blended infection control responsibilities.

- Coordinate staff health vaccination program, staff immunisation records and occupational exposures process
- Surveillance of infection related events and hospital acquired infections, with implementation of appropriate interventions and reporting to relevant stakeholders
- Monthly VICNISS surveillance process monitoring and reporting
- Provide IPC education (including orientation and ongoing) to all categories of employees at Seymour Health as required.
- Attend relevant information forums and conferences as required to ensure currency of knowledge and practices.
- Participate and report to relevant committees including; Infection Prevention & Control (Chair), Clinical Risk & Quality, Drugs & Therapeutics, Leadership & Management, other committees as required.
- Demonstrate knowledge and commitment towards quality improvement activities
- Actively participate in departmental accreditation processes as the lead of the IP&C component; Eg: National Safety and Quality Standards, Aged Care Quality Standards, NDIS Standards, ASNZ4187 Standards.
- Manage projects as allocated
**Ideally you will possess**:
- AHPRA Registration requirements for a Registered Nurse Division 1.
- The Educational Qualifications and Experience required are the minimum specific requirements that need to be met for an employee to be eligible to perform this role. For a Registered Nurse the approved educational qualifications are shown on the Approved Programs of Study list on the AHPRA web-site. The Bachelor of Nursing is the main study program completed by current students.
- Minimum three years post graduate nursing experience
- Post graduate qualification in Infection Control or equivalent or working towards same
- Hand Hygiene Australian gold standard auditor or prepared to work towards
- Accredited HIV, HBV & HCV pre and post-test counsellor or working towards
- Accredited Nurse Immuniser or prepared to work towards
- ANTT accredited assessor

**Essential Attributes**
- AHPRA Registration for a Registered Nurse, Division 1
- Minimum three years post graduate nursing experience
- Post graduate qualification in Infection Control or equivalent or working towards same
- Hand Hygiene Australian gold standard auditor or prepared to work towards achieving
- Accredited HIV, HBV & HCV pre and post-test counsellor or prepared to work towards achieving
- Accredited Nurse Immuniser
- Demonstrated broad understanding and leadership skills with accreditation participation for the National Safety and Quality Standards, Aged Care Quality Standards, NDIS Standards, ASNZ4187 Standards.
- Demonstrate knowledge of relevant legislation including but not limited to the Nurses Act, Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Act, Health Services Act, OH&S
- Well-developed clinical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Sound judgement and decision-making skills.
- Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills and ability to collaborate across a diverse range of health professional occupations.
- Self-directed with ability to analyse data, initiate action plans and meet reporting deadlines autonomously.
**Desirable**
- Minimum three years post graduate nursing experience
- Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.
- Membership of relevant professional organisation e.g. the Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control (ACIPC) and Hume Region Infection Control Group (HRICG)
