About the Role

The IMHAOD Nurse Manager – Clinical Policy and Practice is a key leadership position responsible for providing strategic oversight and driving the implementation of clinical policy initiatives across the directorate.

The role leads workforce development efforts and ensures that clinical practice standards are upheld, supporting the delivery of high-quality services and optimal patient outcomes. Through strong leadership, strategic planning, and a commitment to excellence, the Nurse Manager strengthens clinical capability, promotes consistent best practice, and supports the ongoing development of a safe, effective, and patient-centred service system.

This role is location negotiable within the Mid North Coast Local Health District, locations are Coffs Harbour, Kempsey & Port Macqaurie.

About You

You are a highly capable and professionally committed Registered Nurse, holding current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia, complemented by postgraduate qualifications in education, health service management, clinical redesign, or equivalent industry qualifications or actively working toward them. You bring recent and relevant leadership experience in senior nursing roles, with a strong understanding of contemporary mental health and alcohol and other drugs (AOD) service delivery, including the challenges and complexities inherent in these environments.

With a solid grounding in clinical governance, you understand the demands of implementing change while upholding professional practice standards across diverse clinical settings. You demonstrate strong capability in change management, project implementation, evaluation methodology, and health service redesign. Your ability to use data effectively to inform strategic decision-making enables you to enhance patient outcomes and support evidence-based improvements.

Your advanced verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills allow you to influence and engage stakeholders effectively, while maintaining accuracy, attention to detail, and data integrity in all reports, briefs, and presentations. You excel at balancing competing priorities, managing deadlines, and navigating complex operational environments with highly developed organisational skills.

You role-model professionalism, integrity, and leadership within the nursing profession, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing professional development and upholding NSW Health Core Values. With a current NSW Driver Licence and the capacity to travel regularly across the Local Health District and intermittently across NSW, you bring flexibility and a readiness to support service needs wherever required.
