Bidgerdii Community Health Service is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled primary health care service, operating in the Rockhampton and Central Queensland region for close to 30 years. The organisation is a bulk billing community-controlled health service, managed by a Board of Directors who oversee and manage the strategic directions of the service.
Bidgerdii provides comprehensive primary health and well‐being services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the Rockhampton and surrounding regions. Bidgerdii collaborates with health and well‐being partner agencies to enable integrated continuity of care for the community and continues to work to contribute to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health policy and program reform in Queensland.

About the Role:
This role is based in Blackwater and travel to Rockhampton, Mount Morgan and Central Highlands will be required at various intervals.
The purpose of the transport/receptionist is to provide professional, courteous transportation and medical courier services for clients, as required. This role is also responsible for the development and implementation of local marketing and community engagement strategies, to actively increase awareness, access, and uptake of health services.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for greeting patients, scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and providing excellent customer service. The Transport/Receptionist will be the first point of contact for patients and will play a critical role in ensuring a positive patient experience.
Responsibilities:
* Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
* Schedule appointments and manage patient records
* Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries
* Verify patient insurance information and collect co‐payments
* Maintain a clean and organised reception area
* Transport patients to and from appointments as required
About You:
You are a compassionate, optimistic individual wanting to make a difference in people's lives especially our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and also have the following:
* Hold a current, unrestricted "C" class Driver's Licence – essential.
* Demonstrate an excellent driving record with knowledge and understanding of Road Traffic regulations – essential.
* Demonstrated understanding of the health issues in Aboriginal Communities.
* Demonstrated competence in use of Business technology and desktop applications; internet, word, spreadsheet and database packages.
* Ability to read and use maps and street directory.
* Ability to understand transport schedules and coordinate transport appointments in line with patient needs.
* Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, including a diverse client base.
* Ability to work within a team base environment and autonomously as required.
Practical Requirements:
* Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
* Working with Children Check (Blue card)
* Immunisation requirements – It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A, COVID19 and pertussis (whooping cough) during their employment.
* Satisfactory Police Criminal History Check.
