About the team
The Public Guardian can be appointed by a court or tribunal to make health and lifestyle decisions for people who are unable to on their own, or with support. These include decisions such as where a person might live, their medical and dental treatment, health care, and other services. It also provides information and support to private and enduring guardians, service providers and the wider community.
* Service Delivery operational teams provide our core guardianship service across the state.
* Practice and Strategy teams provide systemic advocacy, stakeholder engagement and support both customers and employees in their practice of guardianship.
* Establishment and Quality Assurance teams provide responsive onboarding for new guardianship matters.
About the role
As Manager – Operations, you will lead an operational team to deliver high-quality statutory guardianship services, making delegated decisions for customers in line with the Guardianship Act 1987 (NSW), decision-making standards and delegations.
You will set clear expectations, provide supervision and performance guidance, and ensure work practices and customer outcomes align with Customer Excellence Principles.
You will oversee governance, risk and complaints, and contribute to policy, procedure and quality improvements that strengthen service delivery.
You will provide high-level advice and recommendations to the Public Guardian Leadership Team, build strong partnerships across the agency and with external stakeholders, and lead a client load of complex or urgent matters through advocacy, chairing multi-agency meetings/roundtables and attending hearings where required.
As Manager – Operations, you will manage ongoing employees as well as temporary staff, students and contractors as required, delivering services to customers and participating in an after-hours roster to ensure essential 24/7 coverage.
