The Role
Are you a qualified carpenter with a passion for maintaining and improving community infrastructure? The Town of Port Hedland is seeking a Carpenter/Building Maintenance Officer to deliver high-quality maintenance services across a diverse portfolio of Town assets-including public amenities, recreation centres, and staff housing.
Working closely with the Coordinator Property Management, you'll play a key role in ensuring our facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained for the community.
Responsibilities of the Carpenter/Building Maintenance Officer include:
* Carrying out building repairs and maintenance
* Inspecting assets, coordinating contractors, and ensuring work meets standards
* Delivering excellent customer service and maintaining accurate records
* Working independently, making sound decisions, and contribute to continuous improvement
* Ensuring compliance with WHS legislation and Town policies
Enjoy the perks of a 9-day fortnight roster with the added bonus of accruing a Regular Day Off on either a Friday or Monday every fortnight.

Work Related Requirements
The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:
* Mandatory Carpentry Trade Certificate (applicants who have obtained their Carpentry Trade Certificate through a formal apprenticeship pathway will be highly regarded)
* Working at Heights, Working in Confined Spaces, EWP (High Risk Licence) - Desirable but not essential*
* White Card
* National Police Clearance
* Current 'C' class drivers license
* Rights to work in Australia
* Support with these licences may be available upon successful completion of 6-month probationary period
